Under the slogan “Youth for More Water and Climate Resilient Communities,” the GreenXMENA 2025 Forum, the first regional youth forum focusing on water and climate resilience, announces the launch of the GreenX MENA Youth Hackathon. This challenge comes to address the climate crisis and water scarcity that affects more than 60% of the region’s population. It is an essential part of the forum organized by the Arab Youth Green Voices Network (AYGVN) in partnership with Green Gate, scheduled to take place in Tunisia from October 29 to 31, 2025.
The Hackathon is a regional online event that lasts for 5 to 6 days and brings together 9 innovative youth teams from the Middle East and North Africa to develop sustainable solutions for water and climate challenges. The forum generally aims to amplify youth voices and innovate solutions that align with the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goals 6 and 13. The hackathon’s outputs will be used to develop a youth action roadmap and a comprehensive policy paper to be presented at key global platforms such as the Conference of the Parties (COP30) and the United Nations Water Conference, thereby enhancing youth representation in global policy-making spaces.
The Hackathon focuses on three main themes: Water, Climate, and Resilience; Justice, Equity, and Local Knowledge; and Youth Empowerment and Policies. Three winning teams will be selected to receive financial and technical support to develop their projects. In addition, these teams will have the opportunity to attend the regional forum in Tunisia and present their projects on the conference stage, providing them with a real opportunity to network with interested organizations.
Participation is open to young people aged 18-35, and projects will be judged by experts in the fields of water and climate. Apply via the link: https://2u.pw/HDKxM
